Environmental Climate Justice
ECJ Awareness Week
- The program consists of 5 events from March 17th – March 21st. Activities listed on the right.
- The theme for the week is all about raising awareness around the importance of community resilience and adaptation.
Actions and Activism
- Actions and Activism is a sub team of the ECJ project team. We researching the state of food security across Oregon.
- The framework that we are developing incorporates principles of food sovereignty and environmental, social, and racial markers to assess the situation.
- We are doing outreach to urban farms, nonprofit organizations, agencies, and other food related organizations to survey their experiences.
- Ultimately, we want to create avenues to utilize our research to pressure power-holders into making changes that alleviate food insecurity.
Current News
- The Current News Team has decided to focus on education and awareness of environmental issues and impacts.
- Good news posts via instagram. This is meant to spread positivity and hope in a very negatively dominated field.
- Every week we find positive news stories and share them on instagram.
- Podcast (spotify): We have monthly podcasts that reviews environmental news. It covers both local (Oregon based) and globally.
- For example, our first podcast discusses overconsumption. We define what overconsumption is, how it impacts the environment, and examples in Oregon such as hydroflasks. A water bottle you only need one to two of but people often have several more.
- We are also looking for students and environmental professionals to interview in later episodes.
- Good news posts via instagram. This is meant to spread positivity and hope in a very negatively dominated field.

- These timelines include who needs to be contacted by each date, assesses the resources at each school that already exist and which resources our team can help provide each school with
- Some schools are more advanced and might be ready to implement reusables with a little push while others are at the start of their journey and need informational posters to start
